Site 41 and Beyond

Funding

Initial funding for the very short documentary vignettes and the 5-10 minute promotional documentary will be obtained through on-line solicitations and personal/professional contacts by Todd Harris with interested parties, both individuals and organizations. It has been calculated that a total of $ 20,000.00 is needed to produce the promotional documentary. This includes aerial filming of the Site 41 area, proposed landfill sites in the Ingersoll and Russell area, and the existing landfill sites near London and Thorold, at a cost of $ 6,000.00. So as to obtain the required funding, various special perks will be offered in exchange for specific amounts of money for the project, where perks increase in proportion to the contribution made.. Contributions can be as small as $ 25.00 and as large as $ 2,500.00. (see below).

For the 75 minute long form theatrical documentary first window broadcasters will be contacted through the theatrical distributor contracted with, for either a broadcast acquisition or licence fee. Second window broadcasters will also be contacted for their commitment to provide a broadcast licence fee, and other support. I-Channel, a national digital channel, has made a commitment towards the broadcasting of the Site 41 and Beyond Documentary. Once sufficient funding commitments have been secured from various sources, additional second window broadcasters will be contacted for their support.

Special Perks Available Through the Site 41 and Beyond Documentary Project Campaign

As a contributor, there are many exceptional perks available through the Site 41 and Beyond Documentary Project Campaign. The list includes on-line and dvd documentaries on Site 41 by the Director, sample of pure and clean water from the Site 41 area, Site 41 t-shirts, bonus footage of never seen video of Site 41 related material, production photos, and a personalized tour of the Site 41 area - all of which provides the contributor a unique personal memento and keepsake of the Site 41 situation – and what is most important – as a means to help protect and preserve clean water now and for future generations, through the documentaries produced through your contribution.

The most unique and valuable of these items are of course the limited edition landscape photographs which provide a unique representation of the Site 41 area and experience and the longstanding fight to preserve clean water and shut down Site 41. Thomas J. Wilson, Simcoe County landscape photographer has graciously agreed to be the landscape photographer for the Site 41 and Beyond Documentary project and campaign.

Thomas’s photographs are available both for the lower and higher level contributions. The lower level contributions allow persons to obtain valuable limited edition landscape photographs of the Site 41 area, albeit in a smaller personal format, and for less money. For the higher end contributors, the added value is that large size format photographs can be framed and mounted onto your office wall for public viewing and recognition of your organizations commitment to Sustainability. Moreover, in this case, there will be less large format photographs made available to contributors, making them that more unique and valuable. It should be noted that despite the size of each photograph, Thomas will personally sign each photograph.

Thomas’s photographic work has been influenced by the landscape paintings of the Group of Seven and the photographs of Ansel Adams. For a more complete background of Thomas’ life and love of and approach to landscape photography and the Simcoe County Region, where he has lived in his century old home in Alliston over the past 11 years, please go to the ‘Statement’ section of www.thomasjwilson.ca.

Contributors can choose from a group of five special photographs. In the case of the $ 2,500.00 contribution, two of the three photographs are ’Stop Site 41’ and ‘Groundwater’ . The third photograph can be chosen from a group of additional photographs: ‘Floating Leaves’ , ‘Silhouettes’ , ‘Gentle Flow’, and ‘Snow Dust’ . Because there are only four sets of limited edition photographs being offered at this level of contributions, this will ensure that each contributor at this level will have a unique set of photographs. Please contact Todd Harris to inquire about your choice of photograph(s) which corresponds to your level of contribution.
